Makaya Farms — registered as Makaya Agric Farms — is the working estate behind the Makaya name. Founded in 2020, it spans acres of cassava, cocoa and pepper in Ibadan, worked to a harvest tradition we keep every November.
Most farms sell what they grow. A handful of processors turn other people's harvests into something else. Very few do both, under one name, on one estate. Makaya Farms grows cocoa on our own acres and carries it the whole way to finished chocolate — made in-house, bean to bar. The cassava we grow becomes flour on the same land. Nothing is bought in and relabelled. What you buy from us, we grew, or we made.
Every November the estate gathers for harvest — and shares the day with the communities of Onipe and Aba Otun. It is the fixed point in our year, the moment the work of the seasons becomes the produce in our catalogue. The first Yam Harvest was held in 2022; our next falls on 14 November 2026.
Makaya Farms operates as part of Makaya Plantations Limited. We work the land with the next generation in mind, not just the next harvest — the same long view the wider group takes of everything it builds.
